Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was born on February 26, 1954 in Istanbul, Turkey’s largest city. in a poor family. He studied in (Imam Khatib) Islamic religious schools, then graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Marmara University. He was a semi-professional soccer player between the years 1969-1982 and he was playing for Qasim Pasha Club.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan joined the (National Salvation Party) at the end of the seventies, but with the military coup that took place in 1980, all parties were canceled, and in 1983 party life returned to Turkey and Erdogan’s activity returned by joining the (Welfare Party), and Erdogan won him the position of mayor Istanbul in 1994, and in 1998 he was accused of inciting religious hatred for quoting verses from Turkish poetry while delivering a speech in the city of Sird. He was suspended from office and sentenced to 10 months in prison. After that, he moved to the Virtue Party, which he attended in 2001, so Erdogan seized the opportunity to defect from it with some of his companions, including Abdullah Gul, and establish the Justice and Development Party. And development will preserve the foundations of the republican system and will not enter into quarrels with the Turkish armed forces and will follow a clear and active policy in order to reach the goal drawn by Atatürk to establish a civilized and contemporary society within the framework of Islamic values in which 99% of Turkey’s citizens believe. In 2003, his party won the majority of the seats in the Turkish parliament, and he was unable to occupy the position of president at the time because of the consequences of his imprisonment. His companion Abdullah Gul did that task, while he contented himself with holding the position of prime minister of the Turkish Republic, but his influence was stronger than the president of the republic, and in 2014 he chose To become independent after winning the position of the twelfth President of the Turkish Republic on August 28, 2014, and he has won since the first round, defeating his competitors. He was the first Turkish president to be elected by direct ballot. He is considered one of the most important officials in the Islamic world, and Turkey experienced a great economic boom during the period of his party’s rule.
