Biography, Life story

Melhem Barakat was born on October 28, 2016 in Kfar Shima, Lebanon, and belongs to the Greek Orthodox denomination. His father was a carpenter.

Melhem Barakat is considered one of the most famous Lebanese and Arab singers and composers, influenced by the art of the great musician Mohamed Abdel Wahhab. His talent appeared since he was in school, where he composed some words from the daily newspaper and sang it at one of the school celebrations. He was also famous since his youth as a singer in his town. After that, he joined one of the famous programs for new voices. He left school when he was 16 years old and decided to join the National Conservatory of Music. So he belonged to him, without knowing his father until he discovered the matter, so he accepted it. He left the institute before completing his studies, went to the Rahbani Theater, and joined the Rahbani Brothers Troupe. But after four years, he left them to make his artistic path and build his own musical personality.

I painted the song (God is generous) by Melhem Barakat, his first artistic beginnings, followed by the song (Ya Asmar). At the age of 22, he made his way through a long artistic career, teaching, composing, singing and plays. He taught playing the oud, participated in singing in the Rahbana Ensemble in a number of their musical plays, and starred in the play (The Seventh Spring). Pascal Sakr, Rabih El-Khouly, Ahmed Dogan, Micheline Khalifeh, etc. The first of his songs was (Report All My Appointments), then the play (Sweet and Loving) composed by the singer Sabah, among them: (May God marry you Yazidou), (I came across Kahil Al-Ain), and (Why are you awake now).

Melhem Barakat also went through the theater experience through the plays (Princess Zumurud, The Seventh Spring, and I Walked My Path), and went through the cinema and starred in the movie (My Love Does Not Die) with the star (Hala Aoun). He also revived and still performs concerts in Arab and international theaters.

He went through a stage of poverty, injustice and destitution during the war. But when he composed the song (Abuki Maine Ya Sabih) by the Lebanese singer Walid Tawfiq, his fame began again, and performances poured on him.

Melhem Barakat married Mrs. Randa Azar and gave birth to glory, promise and ghana, then he married the Lebanese singer May Hariri, who gave birth to him Junior and who he returned and divorced.

Melhem Barakat died on Friday, October 28, 2016, at Hotel Dieu Hospital in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, after a struggle with cancer.
