Lionel Messi was born on June 24, 1987, south of the city of Rosario, in the province of Santa Fe, Argentina, to parents Jorge Horacio Messi (born 1958), a worker in a factory, and Celia Maria Cuccittini, a cleaner, and his father’s family descends from Italian origins, specifically to the city of Ancona, from which his grandfather, Angelo Messi, immigrated in 1883.
