Kadim Al Sahir was born on September 12, 1957 in the city of Mosul in Iraq. He is known to have composed all his songs himself so far, with the exception of some very few songs in which he used other composers. He has many titles, the most important of which are “Ambassador of the Iraqi Song” and “Caesar of the Arabic Song,” which was given to him by the late Syrian poet Nizar Qabbani. He has two sons, Wissam and Omar, and a granddaughter who is older than his son, Wissam.
